AND THE WINNING WORKSPACES COMMUNITY-BUILDING TIP OF THE MONTH IS: HOLD A GREEN ‘FREE FLEA MARKET’
Want to strengthen the community spirit at your BC? Temporarily convert a well-traveled empty office or open space area of your Center to a ‘Free Flea Market’ (for a few days to maybe a month) and invite your tenant/clients to bring in household (such as equipment, décor, etc.) and/or wearable items that they no longer use, that others can rummage through and possibly be interested in possessing for free.
Neighbors taking and using them is a much better outcome than having the items wind up in a landfill. Then when the ‘Free Flea Market’ campaign period concludes, call a local charity that can benefit from what’s not claimed (such as the Salvation Army or Goodwill Industries) to come and take away what’s left over.
High-visibility social responsibility, cooperation, sharing and charity are the cornerstones of community-building -- and these tips have proven to be one of the best ways to achieve a tight-knit ‘neighborhood’ feel that solidifies your BC’s brand, while underscoring the community spirit of your BC or Serviced Workspace.
